It is however the first important political decision I’ve made. Through reading philosophy and modern literature, I have decided that American politics needs to dissassemble itself, becomming a shadow of its former self. It needs to get out of the lives of private citizens where those citizens are not any threat to other citizens and prosecute only those who do violence to persons and property of persons.

Not only does the tax code need to be rewritten from the ground up with this in mind, but the tax structure that steals from people at every exchange of goods and services needs to be shut down. Every time the government takes money from the citizen it should be marked. “This item without federal, state and local taxes is worth 60% of the current list price charged.”

The government has a right to charge for the defense of the nation and the protection of its citizens, but beyond that and some other necessary functions, the federal govt. needs to shut down. The problem is that about 30% of the current work force will be out of a job. The good bit is that what cost us $100 now will cost $60.

There is a problem though with unbridaled capitalism that this system would imply. But if the government gets out of the pockets of its citizens to support businesses and groups that could fend for themselves in the new economy, much of what the state now supports would become unnecessary. This is an interminible argument that I don’t have the energy to write a treatise on. I’m not sure a treatise would solve anything either.

bye.

Posted by dougolena at October 7, 2004 04:15 PM

I don’t think this is the most important decision I’ve ever made.
