dualism again

I am constantly bumping into references to science that force being scientific into the material/spiritual dualism I have begun to reject. But on that account, I really must define what it is that I think the real world is made up of. As I have said before elsewhere, John A. Wheeler’s quip that “it comes from bit” is an adequate description of what is real. The universe in all its diversity is neither material or spiritual, but rather, information. The experiences of the material world and non-material are all generated within the universe. Why is it that we need to attribute those effects to different kinds of stuff, as if wonder and concrete are opposing each other.

  1. The very idea of someone saying they are a Materialist is attached to the era they live in. If I were to say I was a Materialist 150 years ago, I would mean that atoms and their parts are the fabric of everything that exist. Perhaps those that say they are Materialist today, mean to say that the only thing that exist is space-time, fields and forces; particles, waves, and strings. I am a Materialist in that I believe everything that exist, exist; and I am a Spiritualist in admitting how humbly ignorant I am in saying the words, “everything,” “exist,” and “believe.” If God exist, He exist in whatever capacity afforded Him to do so, and We exist contingently on the fact that these are the conditions that afford Us to do so. That doesn’t get us anywhere though. Scientism, Realism, and Religion all put the cart before the horse, by rejecting and accepting things at whim. I am spiritually ready to accept whatever the Material world and it’s Maker are ready to share.
